More Gallery Wall inspiration

Recently I suggested to my friend that he create a gallery wall in his kitchen nook area. Since he intends to spend a lot of time in this area, I explained how the pictures/art should be meaningful and inspiring to him.

This first gallery wall example shows a variety of different frame thicknesses, dimensions, and colors. There's a mix of ornate, gold, silver, and wood tone giving it a collected look. I love how it showcases all different art works and the overall color palette is shades of green and gray.

Next, this gallery wall has a more modern and streamlined look with a soft overall color palette of silver and gold. The wide white mats framing the black and white pictures have an airiness to it and would be a great way to display some of his favorite photos.

The last example I showed him is a grid pattern with lights above. Rather than those large lights, I suggested small scale picture lights. In his situation, he would create the grid to be wider than it is tall, so the chairs don't bump up against the pictures.

​As we went through all of these options, it sparked his idea to mat and frame a collection of restaurant menus he had been collecting. He and his son have a history of visiting Michelin star restaurants. The menus they collected are beautiful and what makes them extra meaningful is their own handwriting on them, noting a wine they paired with the meal and many of them have the chef's signature on them. 

I love gallery walls! They can tell a story, evoke a mood, create a color statement, capture memories, or serve as a vision for your dreams. I've created them for every one of these reasons in my own house.
