Moments of Joy
Reflections, Rituals, and the Journey Toward Joy

Sunday, July 27, 2025 & Monday, July 28, 2025 Our time in East Tawas has been wonderful. We’ve spent four days in this beautiful beach town—cruising for hours in the dinghy, swimming in Lake Huron, strolling through town, listening to the trains as they rumbled past, watching a sea plane touch down and lift off again, and enjoying some great meals at local restaurants. Tonight, we even rode the marina’s bikes to a new spot for us, The Boathouse Beer Co. & Boozery. Earlier today, a sudden storm swept through around 5:00 p.m. The wind and rain came on so quickly and with such force, it was a bit unnerving. Thankfully, we were safe on board and able to watch it all unfold from the comfort of our boat. In that moment, I found myself especially grateful for the retaining walls we had back in Caseville.
The scenery here has been breathtaking, especially at dusk when the sky seems to melt right into the water. It’s a view that never gets old and a feeling we never want to forget. As we prepare to move on, I’m reminded once again how much I love this life on the water—simple joys that make every mile worthwhile.
