Day 29 of 30| Port Huron

Friday, August 9, 2024: It feels so good to be in Port Huron again. It is familiar and comfortable. We love staying at River Street Marina because it is right next to St. Clair Community College. I'm in awe that much of the campus stretches along the Black River. What a picturesque place to go to school or work!

Looking back, I can't believe I only took one picture this entire day! That is so unlike me! I remember feeling a bit unsettled because I was ready to be home and still have one more day to go. We spent a long, relaxing morning on the boat, people watching. It's a great place to walk or ride bikes along the river and there's also the occasional golf cart coming by with workers from the marina. In the afternoon, we went for long walks around town and took a dinghy ride. 

By 5:00, my sister-in-law and brother-in-law met us. They drove into town and reserved a room at City Flats Hotel for the night. It's been a long time coming for this hotel to open and I'm happy we finally got to see inside. It's stunning! We even got to see inside the old bank vault. After the tour, we sat on their floating bar on the river. It was so nice to sit on the water and watch the boats go by.

We went into the newly opened, Mooncursors Speakeasy. It was really cool inside and if we weren't so hungry, we would've stayed longer but we moved back upstairs for dinner outside on the expansive deck of Bootleggers Axe Co. The food was excellent! It's a unique place because the food is upscale, inspired by their world travels and it's an axe throwing bar. It felt great to just sit and talk, catching up with our family, and savoring our meal. Later, we walked back to the boat and relaxed for a while before Steve & Traci walked back to their hotel.
