Saturday, March 15, 2025: I was drifting in and out of sleep last night, listening to the pouring rain outside for hours. They don't use gutters on the structures here which makes for a different sound. The rain mixed in with the waves made for a very soothing chorus and easy to fall back to sleep. The rain continued until late morning/early afternoon. It was hard to take my eyes off of the views because the colors, waves, and cloud formations were in a constant state of change. So mesmerizing. At times, the rain was so heavy that it created a fog over the ocean, making everything blend in together. At times, the water was the lightest turquoise color and smooth. We enjoyed drinking coffee very slowly today. After the rain stopped, we made two trips along the beach in search of beach glass. We thought for sure we'd find a lot but I only found one small piece that I can add to the collection that Larry found the other day. At the end of the beach where a ton of seaweed collects, we noticed these tiny birds, Sandpipers. There had to be 50 or more. They were walking on the beach together and as soon as a wave came in, they'd rush in to the mounds of seaweed and then they'd follow the wave back out. They kept doing this over and over as if they were children playing. Speaking of birds, the little Finch-type birds that have been here each day are getting more and more comfortable with us. I was sitting in my chair a short while ago and it landed on the railing, only a foot or two away from me and when I looked up, we were staring at each other...he was at perfect eye level for me. Today, there were three of these birds and when a fourth one came onto the terrace, two of the three chased it away and were chattering and chirping at it. The third one stayed right by us hoping for some crumbs. We walked back to South Point again for lunch. This is that hotel located just beyond Surfer's Bay. The Shrimp Scampi Flatbread was so good the other day that I had to order it again. Larry had Jerk Chicken Tacos which he loved and again, we ordered a salad to carry back to the villa for dinner. It's 6:57 p.m. as I write this and there is currently no sign of the moon. It's pitch black sky tonight with lots of stars and there is a boat out on the horizon. There are several fishermen out on the cliff. I assume that is because it's Saturday and this is their natural for more fishing on the weekends. Last night, the moon was spectacular, reflecting off the ocean at 8:00 p.m. I'm hoping we will see it again tonight.
