Tuesday, March 11, 2025: It's been an exciting morning! We started waking up at 6:30 a.m. I opened the doors to get a picture of the sunrise but it was cloudy. I got up again at 7:00 and then for good at 8:00. Larry opened all the doors while I made coffee in the coffee maker. We moved up from instant coffee with evaporated milk today! We have Hazelnut coffee and real cream! As I was standing at the sink, my little bird friend flew in to greet me. Clearly other guests must leave food out because he knows right where he's going. He flew back to the table, the floor, the terrace, back inside to the dining table where he rested a bit and we just stared at one another. I moved aside and he flew back into the kitchen, took a look around, and then flew out the door. The coffee tastes even better than I hoped! The grocery store had a section of baked goods and I was excited to buy a cake that looked a lot like my mom's cherry nut cake that she makes at Christmas. It sadly wasn't that. It was a coconut cake and hard as a rock to cut into. It wasn't bad but not what I was expecting. It was dry and crumbly like a scone and we enjoyed it with our coffee. I'm mesmerized by the kite surfers. There are 9 of them out there plus a wind surfer. They appear to be so close together and going so fast, it seems like they would be running into each other but they don't. One surfer gets himself very high out of the water and he's flying through the air doing flips. I get an adrenaline rush just watching; I can imagine how exhilarating that is. We saw a cruise ship in the distance and another boat on the horizon. The two boats that we saw last night are gone. I want to know where they're all going! Another surprising sight is a guy on a wave runner. He appears to be trudging along through the waves; unlike the excessive speeds we see at home. He went over towards the kite surfers, dropped an anochor, and then disappeared into the water for a long time. The apartment/condo complex we saw on our walk the other day is actually a hotel with a restaurant. Following the same path we took the other day, we turned to follow a white stone path that lead directly to the hotel. It was beautiful!!! There are striking buildings that circle a brilliant blue swimming pool surrounded by lounge chairs and umbrellas. Just beyond that is a gorgeous open air restaurant. There are only a handful of people in the entire place. We found a table in the shade with a view of the pool. Nearly everything on the menu sounded amazing. Larry ordered a Flying Fish wrap, I ordered shrimp scampi flatbread, and a Caesar salad. We shared our main items and took the salad back with us as carry-out. Knowing we walked there, they packed it in a bag of ice for us. Back at the villa in the early evening, a man came walking along the cliff selling coconuts. I was excited by the idea but decided not to get one. There are two boats on the horizon again, appearing to be in the same spots as last night. We suspect they must be fishing. The moon is so bright and full. With only a few clouds and the reflection off the waves is spectacular!
