Is your home transitional or transformational? Never thought of your home in these terms before? Me either! Not until I heard Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent explain it in their conversation on the Sheri & Nancy Show (the conversation about sanctuary starts around minute 22). They describe a transitional house as one where we might feel "half in and half out." A transformational house is one based on "what the walls give you." This resonates with me deeply because this is what I call, your soul's oasis. It reflects all who live there, represents how you want to live your life, feeds your soul, and fills you with joy.
A soul oasis supports you with visual reminders of your happiest memories but it also contains items that point you in the direction of your dreams. We all have various home decor items. Often times we buy things because we saw someone else do it or we want our house to look current or trendy. If the items in your environment aren't providing a function, filling you with joy, or pointing you towards your dreams, why are they there? When you decorate with intention and let your home tell you stories, it will feed your soul and transform your life. Comments are closed.
