This photograph of a sailboat at sunrise is one of the first gifts Larry gave me. With it, he made the promise that we will have many adventures together. It was taken by Ken Scott, a photographer in northern Michigan. This picture has moved from my condo, to our house, and it has hung in nearly every room since. It was next to the chaise lounge because the colors coordinated. It was in the living room because it worked well with the yellow walls. It was in the guest bedroom because it needed to fill an empty space. One day I walked by it when Larry was out of town for a few days and I stopped to stare at it and I remembered his promise. I thought about how our life has been one adventure after another and beyond anything I ever dreamed was possible. In that moment, I knew this picture belonged in our bedroom, on our "happy wall." This time, it was placed with the intention of reminding us of that promise. The picture on either side of it are from two different adventures in the Caribbean. The items on the shelf below it are all reminders of what makes our relationship feel really good to us....reminders of why we chose to spend our life together. Do you have items in your house that are serving a purpose? Would you rather view them as treasure by placing them someplace special with intention?
