What do you have displayed on your desk that helps you get through stressful days? Do you know how to create a sensory experience and soul connection for yourself? I will show you how at the Soul Oasis & Vision Board Woman’s Workshop that I am co-hosting with Megan Gunnell on October 13, 2018. This interesting display at Shari’s desk (above) is much more than just a random collection of pretty things. Every item placed here has a purpose or a story related to relationships and connection. I intentionally made the image foggy to express the importance of the overall meaning (relationships) rather than the items. Continue reading to learn the significance of this grouping. The overall display is intended to be welcoming and provide a sense of softening, beauty, and calm for the customers who come to Shari’s desk each day. The “hidden message” this grouping provides to Shari is an affirmation that she wants to reflect on and expand (symbolized by the mirror) her experiences in nature. When Shari looks at the hummingbird in a moment of peace, she may feel a tug at her heart as it is there to remind her of her dearly loved father and sister who have passed on, filling her with joyful memories. The wind chimes, dangling below the hummingbird, symbolize her deep appreciation for music. The partially filled, open jar contains lavender. Pinching a bunch of the lavender emits a peaceful and calming aroma and offers an instant connection to a natural, grounding, earth element. The natural birch disk (below the jar) is also a sensory experience Shari can touch to connect with nature. The terrarium is an acknowledgement of appreciation given to Shari which creates a spark of joy as she remembers the event. It also serves as a reminder of life (living things, earth, and stone). The small bottles of essential oils have an earthy, clean scent she can spray to help her refocus when she’s feeling stressed or overwhelmed. Here is the entire display in color. That's a lot of intentional thought and meaning for one small corner of an ordinary office desk, don't you agree? The act of filling the vase with fresh flowers subconsciously tells Shari that she is nurturing her relationships and soul connection.
What messages do the objects in your environment tell you? If they are not serving a physical purpose or telling you some really great stories, they may not be worth having in your space at all. Comments are closed.
