January. The holiday rush is over and the new year has begun. The Christmas decorations have been returned to the attic and the glitter and dust have been swept away. The sofa and chairs have been moved back into place and the entire house feels refreshed and renewed; a complete reflection of how I'm feeling in spirit. The heaviness of red roses and evergreen branches have been replaced with the palest of pink carnations and rocks collected on the beach have been returned to their rightful place on the mantel.
Everywhere I look throughout our house, I see stories. I see life experiences and I see dreams yet to be fulfilled. As I sit at my desk writing these words, I am looking at a collection of items that sits at the corner of my desk. A simple mirror tile beautifully reflects a quartz candle, a crystal butterfly, "Pear Designs" engraved into an acrylic paperweight, and a seashell necklace. All of these treasures combined, remind me that I want to reflect on the beauty that surrounds me, and I want to feel light and free as I expand my business. This simple display fills me with hope of what is to come.
I have similar groupings of things throughout my house that tell me different stories. Some stories are happy memories and some stories are reminders of dreams yet to be fulfilled. Our home is a true reflection of us. It is our soul's oasis.
Are you reflected in your space? Does your decor remind you of what is most important to you or have your dreams and happy memories been lost in the clutter? Clear a space; even if it's a small corner of a desk or a room, the kitchen counter, or a shelf. Find a space to create a story for yourself. If it is nothing more than a mirror with a candle on it, let it serve as a reminder to slow down for a minute to reflect, make a wish, and celebrate you.
