Jim said, “I need your help. I have a few things I brought from home and want to hang them in my office. I’ve been trying to figure it out with my secretary and we have some ideas but I’d really like your help.”
I have been waiting for this day to come! Jim is a highly decorated, retired, police officer who recently started his second career. He is still in the same line of work, however, he has an office now and wants to display some of his treasured items.
Jim had 8 different items that he was trying to find a place for. He said, “Maybe one can go on this wall and two or three on another. What do you think?” He wanted the largest one to hang on the blue accent wall and I agreed. I suggested creating a collage and to hang five of the items together and then the two framed photos can hang together on another wall, leaving blank “white” space on the two remaining walls. The reason to group items together in this way is to truly make an impact and tell a story. If they were spread out, the meaning becomes a little lost.
A project like this fills me with so much joy because I’m helping Jim tell his story. Each time he walks into his office, he will be reminded of his accomplishments, the positive impact he has made in this world, and with a team of people who know his heart and soul. It’s been a journey that will never be forgotten. Anyone coming into his office will have a very good sense of the type of person Jim is without him needing to say much at all. It has the power to leave guests in awe and very aware of the special people who risk their lives every day to protect others.
