I love buying fresh flowers for our house! This yellow "vase" is called a Gurgle Pot...it looks like a fish and it makes gurgling sounds as water is poured from it. There's a deeper explanation about the history of it but the gist is, IT MAKES ME SMILE!
Growing up, my dad would frequently walk in the door after a long day at work with three bouquets of flowers...one for each of his girls. I think my mom's bouquet was bigger but my sister and I each had our own bouquet to place in our bedroom. A simple gesture made us feel so special! When I buy flowers now, I often get that giddy little girl feeling again. Thank you Dad!
I only started appreciating sunflowers as an adult and now they make me dream. One day, we will travel to Tuscany and see the fields of sunflowers.
We will celebrate the beauty and plan our next adventure
and walk the cobblestone streets.
Most of all though, it's about the quiet moments being together and looking around to see the beauty no matter where we are.
All of this emotion and feeling from a simple bouquet of sunflowers. This is what creating a soul oasis is all about; displaying items that trigger happy memories of days gone by and provide hints of dreams yet to be fulfilled.
