In this bathroom transformation, I didn't select new tile, a new paint color, fixtures, or lighting. I simply added pictures. I've been experimenting lately with ways to bring more joy into the workplace. I wrote about the Joy & Wisdom focus boards here. People LOVE them and I get so much joy out of seeing people embrace the beauty and randomness that is being shared on the boards.
I decided to let the joy and wisdom spill over into the women's restrooms. This is the only place most of us have to escape our daily tasks throughout the day so I created a new experience for us. As we enter the restroom, we are confronted with this message:
And then as we turn the corner to approach the stalls, our eyes are met with this vision:
As we approach the paper towel dispensers, we have a moment to focus on these two images:
And then as we walk the long corridor to exit, our eyes have a few moments to rest on this final message:
Now, using the restroom is truly an uplifting experience. We feel a whole mix of emotions from surprise, to joy, to appreciation for the beautiful and unexpected. What a joyride this has been for me to share my idea of beautiful. What is your idea of beautiful? Can you share it with those around you?
